I was wondering if anyone who has attended, or who is attending Full Sail could tell me if the experience and knowledge is worth the $30,000+ tuition. Thanks. "Venni Vetti Vicci"

I haven''t been there yet (feel free to disregard in that respect

but it is my first, and so far only choice of college (I''ll be graduating HS in June.) It looks *hella* worth it compared to any other college I''ve seen. Well, maybe DigiPen, but from what I''ve read it seems a little outdated...

I had also enquired about attending full Sail. I think that I would learn a lot faster if I was in an institution that focused primarily on gameing. As it is I am working on my computing science degree, and so I find that my school eats up a lot of my valuable game programming endevours.

Money is the big issue here of cours, but if I could afford it this would be something I would consider.

That''s an understatement. I thought about going there, but I can''t shake the feeling someone''d be better off in front of their computer with $1000 worth of books. And that they''d be in even better shape in front of their computer with $1000 worth of books while getting a BS.

The problem with this method is that you have to have the time. Unfortunately the real world doesn''t usualy give you enough time to read all thos lovely books, it also doesn''t mean that if you read them you''ll understand the theories contained with in. You have no one to ask questions to as you would in a class. And you also do not get to experiance the lovely feeling of teamwork which can be both rewarding and discouraging at the same time. These are important factors.

It all depends on what you consider "worth $30,000.00+ tuition".

So lets get into this.

First and foremost FULL SAIL IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. You''ll have 4 hours of class followed by 4 hours of lab a day, these labs and classes can be spread about any 4 hour mark in the day. For instance you could have class at 9am to 1pm then you can have lab that night from 9pm to 1am. And for your final project you''ll most likely be spending the 2 months you have on the final project getting roughly 1-2 hours of sleep a night until you turn in the project. So if you can''t deal with sleepless nights, tests every day, and projects counting for a large majority of your grade then well Full Sail is not for you.

Another thing I''d like to bring up seeing as how you''ve said you were just graduating high school. Those people I''ve seen right out of highschool that attend Full Sail tend to get on the "no parents around trip" which includes alot of partying and drinking and drug use. If you do this at Full Sail your projects will suffer, your grades will suffer, you''ll either repeat classes, or you''ll just have little or nothing to show future employeers when you graduate. So again if you think this is you then Full Sail is not for you.

What Full Sail is:
Full Sail introduces you to C++, the physics, the mathmatics, 3d theory, 2d theory, MFC, Direct X, OpenGL, Networking, Artificial Intelligence, and Design Documents. If you do just the required elements you can graudate with a couple of completed 2d projects and a basic 3d game (basic meaning walking around a level blowing things up).

They teach you all the required technical aspects for you to then go onto the internet, or pick up a book out of the full sail library and expand your knowledge so that you can do more advanced things like percise collision detecion, and the like.

So the answer to your question is realy "Do you think you can get your $30,000+ out of the school, the teachers, the books, and the wealth of information that it contains that does not get covered in class but requires a little extra effort?"

wow...talk about a bit suprising...i was actualy comming to this forum where i''ve never posted before (looked at the site a bit but only found it a couple days ago) to ask specificly about this exact thing....i live in lakeland FL (45 mins away from Full Sail) and have a friend already going there that JUST started...but i''m really considering going myself as well

this post/responses are what i was lookin for (just another part of my consideration to this)...i do have a question though for evaclear...you sound like you go to/have gone to Full Sail already?..just curious and thanks for the info even though i''m not the one that asked..hehe
