I have had a lifelong love of video games, film, theatre and the music that propels them. To Eric, if it utilizes a unique or captivating story, setting, visuals or art design; it deserves an equal partner in its music.
Starting at a young age with films like North by Northwest and Alien, as well as video games like Fallout, Morrowind and Baulder's Gate; I've always loved great underscore in addition to the music I listened to on a daily basis. From Steve Reich and Terry Riley to The Beatles and Black Sabbath, I love interesting and captivating music.
Studying formally at Rio Hondo College and Cal-State Fullerton with prolific composers Steve Moshier and Ken Walicki, I've learned that to create something worthwhile you must be completely honest with yourself. Create something you love, and others will too. We are not unique, there is always someone out there with your same interests. So by truly and honestly creating what you want, you will always find an audience.
I've had the immense pleasure of writing a great amount of music for story and character driven video games, theatre productions and film in addition to concert works of varying types. Always looking to explore new approaches to writing music, I constantly implement techniques and instrumentation not normally found in underscore that help to create a captivating sound for each of my projects.
During most of my career I've had the opportunity to work with and learn from not only great composers and musicians but creative minds in all fields. Collaboration and discussion are some of the most important aspects of music and when coupled with other liked-minded individuals who are passionate about their work, I am truly at my best.
In addition to composing, I have helped start a new-music collective with fellow musicians and composers with the intent of showing that contemporary art-music can be enjoyable to anyone. More information will soon follow.
