I'm working on the heightfield generation for the planet surface, as well as improving the atmosphere as seen from space, and some shader parameters. Not much to say, so i'll just post two "experimental" screenshots:

Most impressive [grin]
Are you using a particular lighting model for the planet surface? It escapes me now, but either Oren-Nayar or Cook-Torrance lends itself nicely to creating accurate lighting for a rough planet (e.g. The Moon).

That would be Oren-Nayar. There is also a special BRDF created to simulating the moon, but the name escapes me at the moment. It was mentioned in Real-Time rendering 2nd ed.
I absolutely love the first image! Yummy!

The third one made me moist. In a good way.
