How has females affected your programming life?

..seriously, they distract me. when i''m surfing the web i realy donn''t want to see naked women, thier to much a distraction. or when a woman walks by, looking good, i don''t want to look. i want to contineu thinking about whatever i was thinking about.

They inspire me to do stuff. Three years ago, I made a set of animated raytraced mouse cursors for a girl. (Only sorta programming related, due to POV Ray, but still...) Then a year ago, I wrote an ASCII slideshow editor/player for a birthday card for a girl. (Definitely not programming related Now I''m being motivated to write down my philosophies and such, because of motivation derived from a girl''s interest in them. All in all, they''ve aided more than hindered.

There was a girl I knew (cute too) who wanted to learn Q-Basic, so I gave her a book and offered to tutor her, hehe. It is a shame it didn''t work out between us, it would have been nice to date a girl her ended up liking programming as much as I do.

On a more general note: I find socialization to be a major distraction from my all so important projects, and this vexes me to no end

They provide me with nourishment every once in a while, and thus contribute in a very miniscule way to my ability to stay alive, and thus my ability to program. In summary, not at all.

A better question would be:
How has your programming affected your dating life?

Having a girlfriend has taken away from my programming...

but , it has resulted in the birth of my very own social life, and not the kind where you get bored and think about programming all day.

I still get to program, and without all of my free time to devote to the computer, I waste less time and accomplish just as much.

There was a girl I knew, she said she cared about C. She tried to make my IDE the way she thought it should be. Yeah, we were desperate, then, to have each other to code. But love is a long, long road.

Yeah, my girlfriend takes me away from my programming quite a bit, but she also inspires me to try to make money off of it. So, it''s a tradeoff I guess.

My sortagf is taking programming classes but is a sign language major, so i try to help her with the programming so its all good, otherwise not much large deal.

i have given up programing for music, and im girlfriendless

Try having a wife AND kid. The only programming time that I get is before I go to work (when they''re both asleep) and after my 2-year-old goes to bed (while my wife is still at work). Unless, of course, I want to hear constant bitching about how I''m "spending more time with the computer" than with her. If I''m lucky I''ll get 2 hours of programming in a day, whereas I used to program at least 6 hours a day. Honestly, it''s really f*ing frustrating sometimes! But still, I wouldn''t give ''em up for anything in the world...not even a top 10 best selling RPG under my name.

Not much. I don''t talk to girls much about programming, most don''t even know.

hmm i can help the gf with CS class at school.. so I guess that comes in handy, sometimes they get in the way of working on stuff, but i think its a good situation nonetheless
