Worst song to drive to. (nope, it's not rock.)

Heard on the radio yesterday that there was some study conducted in England (I think they said England, I dunno) for the worst song to drive to. This is the song that, if you should listen to it while driving, you will probably get a ticket or have an accident. And as it happened, it''s not a rock song. Remember that old Bugs Bunny cartoon where Elmer Fudd is singing in an opera or something: "KILL THE WABBIT. KILL THE WABBIT! KILL THE WAAABBIT!" Remember that song? It''s Wagner''s (sp?) "Ride of the Valkyries". Here. (I hope the link works. Tell me if it doesn''t.) Oh go ahead and drive to it. You''ll see.

I would think it would be classical music of any kind. Soothing and relaxing. Perfect for those early morning drives when you need a little extra sleep and then you wake up with your head wrapped around a tree. :D

Ride of the Valkyries is anything but soothing and relaxing. It''s the kind of music you''d run into battle with.

Classical music is actually surprisingly good for late night driving on Australia''s autobahns...

Relaxes and focusses the mind, improving your anticipation and reaction time, enabling smoother cornering and better corner exit speeds. Not that I would know, of course, since I would never ever pretend our back streets are autobahns.

I also heard about this on the radio(on NPR) this morning. Like Benjamin said Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" was number 1. Two other songs on the list were the Basement Jaxx's "Red Alert" and Prodigy's "Firestarter".

Wagner 'dangerous to drivers'.

Oddly enough I drive to that all the time, considering that the only decent radio station in town is the Classical radio station.

And by decent I mean "A station that has not redefined an ''hour of music'' to be around 20 minutes of music and 40 minutes of commercials".

I''ve never gotten in an accident, never gotten a moving violation, nor a parking ticket.

I also heard, of course, that it''s used to hype up the troops in Iraq. Apocalypse Now?

Still, if I were to pick some music to fight to, it''d either be Kid Rock or some bagpipes. Because nothing pisses me off more than Kid Rock or some bagpipes.

I picture helicopters as well, I think it''s because the first time I heard the song was when I was watching the movie "Casper The Friendly Ghost" and the ghost uncle guys came flying in through the roof or something and they were doing something helicopterish (like spinning the pointy parts of their heads around like helicopter blades.)

When I hear that song, I think of Hammer of the Gods and those valkyries that take the spirits of viking heroes when they get killed. Then I think of Sparkling Generation Valkyrie Yuuki. The song's usually over before I can move on to something else.

Incidentally, I have a CD with that song on it. I've listened to it a couple of times while driving and I've never had problems. That is, unless you consider the deafening roar of the engine and outside traffic ruining the aural effect to be a problem.

I picture flying Hueys mainly because that is one of the songs in Battlefield: Vietnam, and its my favorite thing to play while im flying on the Hueys(scares the crap out of the NVA).
