I don't understand the site (well, the information seems to be deeply hidden): are the webcast free? If they are then this is a great opportunity to get a full version of VC.NET2005!

Yes, all the webcasts are free.
After you register/sign-in, you'll get to select which webcasts you would like to watch. After selecting three webcasts, it will ask you if you want to receive the ASP package. Then you'll fill in the shipping information and then be able to watch the webcasts.

They gave VB.NET 2003 away the same way earlier, I guess they've expanded it to the whole Studio now.

I'm a CSE student and I saw nothing against it. It even had a "Student" item in one of the drop down boxes.

You don't even have to actually *watch* the webcasts, you just have to sign into the area where you can download the file for each webcast and it counts it.

Easy!

It's a Microsoft-owned site, showing recorded content from LiveMeeting webcasts. The webcasts have actual content - there are probably over 60 hours worth of content available on the site, all told.

If it's a scam, it's one hell of an expensive way to get your mailing address to send some junk mail.

It would take a fairly lame person to actually do that though. They are giving something away, the least one could do is actually watch the thing, learn something in the process, and optionally provide feedback to earn karma points.

The three I chose are almost four hours long. I'm still watching, but I don't think I'm learning anything. [sad]

I just finished watching 4 webcasts on ASP.NET with C#. The home page says my product has been shipped, but no email confirmation.

Are they supposed to send you an email or something, or is their mail bot closed for the weekends?

EDIT: I love you whiz kid!! Now I have a chance at getting Visual Studio without paying 300 bucks!!
