Hello everybody. It's my first time at a meeting like this. My name is frob, and I am a gd.net-aholic. (crowd): Hello, frob. Over the past 10 days, I have accomplished many great things with the extra hours. I have worked on a camera boom system and completed it ahead of schedule, implemented some spline rendering that wasn't supposed to be done until mid-February, and fixed a bunch of bugs. I am now a full month ahead of schedule. To help ease my withdrawal pains, I plan to spend the time writing and replying to as many articles as it takes to get back on to my original schedule. I missed you, GD.net!

I worked on my games and assignments, though it appears I have screwed up my use of quaternions in my third-person camera.

I also spent quite a bit of time waiting for my machine to come back from service -- not only did it come back, but I got a free power supply out of it as an apology. [grin]

Maybe I should leave the site more often. Good things happen, then.

Heh :-) I've written a network jukebox in Python that can be controlled with telnet. The telnet access doubles as a primitive chat channel for when I'm in the office and multiple people are logged in to it.

I spent most of my time wondering if my GDNet+ subscription would be extended to make up for the downtime. Also: complaining.

I played lots of Guitar Hero - when I wasn't handling questions and issues related to the downtime. Now I get to publish 7 interviews. Oh Joy :P

I am humbled by your generosity. Not humbled enough to take back everything bad I said about GameDev over the past week, but I'll take back just about all of it. [grin]

I finally started working on a few projects I've been putting off again. That and some crunch time at work.

I didn't realize how much I visited GameDev until it was gone. The first few days were ugly...

BTW any chance on a technical writeup of what has happened? It'd be interesting. Update: Promit wrote something.

Made a (small) game for the first time in 2 1/2 years, and got pretty far in another one. Wrote up plans to go into business for myself. Now that the free time is gone, those plans and the half finished game can go into the (virtual) garbage can again.

My net connection was out for about a week so I didn't notice the GDNet downtime that much in the grand scheme of things. I did, however, get a good deal of work done on my RPG.

I bought L3DT and integrated a heightmap the size of a state into my engine. I wrote an algorithm that generates random floorplans for a full skyscraper, and tesselates them accordingly. I integrated OpenAL into my engine as well, adding music and sound effects with surprising ease. I also accomplished various other minor coding breakthroughs, like implementing a "gun" class that handles muzzleflashes, expended shell casings, and raycasting toward targets.

Oh and I looked for a job
