It seems entirely possible he will be the first celebrity both created and destroyed by /b/tards.

The comments on the YouTube video seem particularly aggressive. [grin]

I saw this video last night. I say, "Good for Tay!" He might as well capitalize on his fleeting Internet celebrity.

I had absolutely no idea who this person was until now. Anyway, I listened to some of his videos. He's not a bad singer and he has a distinctive (good) voice, but he could do with some singing lessons, I think.

I will never understand the "selling out" idea. I like Mountain Dew. I, personally, myself, would LOVE to do a crazy Mountain Dew ad. I'm serious. Would I somehow be hurting someone by putting my face next to a sweet, ice-cold, sweating bottle of Mountain Dew?

My thoughts exactly. People are just pissed that they made him famous by spreading the YouTube video, and now he's the one getting paid for it.

I never understood the appeal, but that video shows a good sense of humor. Seems there are some good sports around, willing to do semi-silly things to amuse people and make a buck. I'll always support that.

Edit: And for the record, the title of this thread made me think he had a concert somewhere, and there were no more tickets available. That would have been way freakier.

I'm thinking this will be the new wave of marketing, taking internet meme's chucking them together to make a good funny viral ad, and then letting it spread it's course. TBH it's a great idea.

I first heard it on Xbox Live (Rainbow 6 Vegas to be exact) with two asshats singing it. I'd never heard of it, so I Googled it and ended up on YouTube.

It's a terrible "song", "sung" (more like "read", the guy can't sing) by some guy who both looks and sounds completely stupid. I can't believe that people are starting to use the original Chocolate Rain video in place of Rick Roll, and calling it "Tay Roll" or somesuch. Maybe if I hadn't gone on Xbox Live that night I would never have heard it (* wishes he could turn clock back *)

The "THIS! IS! SPARTA!" thing from 300 I ranted about back in June died down real quick, so here's hoping this does too.

Long live Rick Roll, btw. Best Internet prank I've seen in years. However, Tay Zonday had to go and ruin it by recording a cover version of it, didn't he?

Yeah, I can't stand the guy or his "music" either. Hope he slips back into obscurity.
