Rather than an hourly rate I prefer to work out a lump estimate for a specific body of work, then if we both agree on the price, I can do the work for that amount. I have some experience in graphical programming (in Python) both SDL (Pygame) and OpenGL (Pyglet) graphics, as well as in coding my own GUI and tile based isometric game; I have an understanding of coding from a programmers point of view which allows me anticipate the solutions to graphical applications. (Sorry for the buzzwords, but you get the idea.) I have a BFA from the Alberta College of Art & Design where I majored in 'Media Arts and Digital Technology'. As such I'm familiar with many analog art skills as well as the basics of art history, design, and art theory. I'm a renaissance man. I'm also an avid reader-of and enthusiast-for of science fiction, fantasy, history, science, and everything on wikipedia. And, of course, I'm a gamer through and through. I've never heard of a builder having to prove his estimate is correct. If he tells you a much longer time than you can believe, reject the offer.

It's as d000hg said: if a client does not agree with what I wish to charge, they may discuss it with me and we can work something out, or they may choose not to accept my services. What I have done before is provided a detailed timesheet of time spent working and what on, but I'd rather do work without having to keep such detailed records -- but of course if a client would like me to, I can.

Also I've provided examples of clients I've worked with to show that others have judged me trustworthy, and further, if a prospective client wishes to they could perhaps contact a client I've worked with before to get an opinion of my work.

I assure you that I do my best to charge fairly.

I highly recommend dbaumgart for art. He really has a great imagination and reasonable rates. Consider him for your next project if you need really high quality 2D art.
