To .Net or not to .Net

Are there any compelling reasons to switch from Visual Studio 6 to .Net. Any cool must have features. I am interested in Game programming with C\C++ not Web Services or C#.
There was a pretty thorough discussion about this very subject here not too long ago. Search around for it.
