I was think of makeing models, and I was wondering about these things: 1. What do your strengths have to be for modeling? 2. What do you HAVE to know, to model? 3. What is the best and easiest program(s) to model with? Thanks Alot!

This question would be better answered in the visual arts forum.

1. There are many tools that a modeler needs, but above all else dedication is needed. If you want to learn to model only because you think you can make good money as an artist, then your art will suck. Do it for the art, for the power of creation.

2. A good modeler understands his/her subject matter. If you are modeling a gun, then you should have good pictorial references for guns. It also helps if you at least know how to sketch.

3. I would say that Wings (www.wings3d.com) is pretty easy modeling tool. Its open source (free).
You should try Maya Learning Edition, and after that if you want to get pro, get the Professional edition.
----------------------------I would rather burn dollars than USA flags... but they are too expensive!
