When pricing a game you might want to consider this scenerio.

A guy is going to a game store to buy XX game for 50 dollars. Some of these games he can pick from might be Half-Life 2, Neverwinter Nights, doom 3, etc. Do you truely think your game will be good enough to make that person decide to instead buy your game? Or how about downloading it online. Half-Life 2 will be downloadable online. Do you think that person would rather download your game?

I really think that 49.99 is a bit much for your game... Of course you have no screenshots so I can base this off of is your ''old'' games. Just be careful with pricing independent games.
Another one bites the dust.

Congratulations.

You have the spirit that I like to see in someone. The spirit that says "I can succeed, no matter how many people tell me I cannot!" Had I not adopted the same attitude, I would not have spent the past nine years as Director of relations between Actress/Artist Ariana Richards (http://www.ariana.org), a position which I have recently retired from due to turning points in my personal life.

I intend to follow my new course with the same perseverence and unshakable determination.

Ariana is fond of telling her friends around the world to always life their dreams and to never give up in reaching for their goals. More people should give this kind of advice rather than trying to come up with reasons why people SHOULDN'T pursue a dream.

You've pursued yours, and because you didn't let the naysayers here (or anywhere else) disuade you from doing so, you have achieved. If you need help with web design, I am willing to assist. If you need help with community coordination, I have 9+ years of experience with a high-profile reference. I cannot work for free, but I am willing to negotiate a fair price for my services.

Send me an email if you are interested in discussing possibilities...

I don''t see what you''re trying to get from this post?

"Gameplay = Good" ?!

Do you have more details to tempt or interest us?
It would seem to me that at one time, he tried to be very open with this forum about what he had in mind, but was told that he was wasting his time (One of the most resounding statements around here, unfortunately). So istead of taking about it, he set out to do it. He says that he intends to update his web site with detailed information in March.

This means he no doubt does not have the time or manpower to spare on site updates, which most likely is due to nobody stepping forward to assist when he first announced his project.

This is called GameDev.Net, which translates as Game Developers Network. And a network is a group of individual units linked together and functioning in tandem, usually for a common purpose. I see very little unity here. Only people jumping at the first opportunity to ridicule someone for posting his or her idea.

I said it in another post, and I''ll say it again here: If this community were to band together and form some sort of core development group, reinforced by talented individuals who are part of their respective game editing communities, there''s no telling what the outcome will be.

I am willing to wait with patience to see what Nav has put together and is preparing to release. And if he considers my offer to assist in web design or community relations to be a worthy investment, I will be more than willing to help present his product to the public.

I make the same offer to anyone here who is serious about developing a product. I cannot work for free, but I won''t be expecting some outrageously high price. Tell me what you want done (presentation-wise, you will have to secure any online store services yourself, and I will quote you a price, and then we can haggle if necessary.

Just curious, but exactly how many stores carry your previous collection product?
Uh, your website seems pretty broken. None of the links work in Opera or IE6.
wow i admire your spirit. somebody''s going somewhere these days.

yes, i do admit that some people are sometimes more caustic than they should be, and i believe it is degenerative.

Yes, I do agree complete newbies shouldn''t make a full fledged MMORPG for their first game, but I do not condone slapping them in the face for it. Let them try. Let them fail. Let them learn.

There is a quote somewhere around GameDev that says,

"Learn from your mistakes. If you don''t, what''s the point of learning them?"

And you don''t even need to look around GameDev to see it, its pretty much one of those common idiom thingies.

Unfortunately, a lot of people don''t seem to believe that''s true, so they attack newbies for trying to do such a thing.

I was a newbie once. I tried to make a first person shooter for my second game (after Pong), and I failed miserably. Did that deter me from continuing game programming?

I still am a newb, in comparison to some of the giants (and former giants, e.g. Yann L), but I''ve come a long way since pong.

Keep up the spirit, and I wish you best of luck. With that type of drive in mind, you should be able to accomplish anything.

Ahem...Starcraft does have good graphics.

Yes, it''s dated good graphics, but it''s still good graphics. Do you realize that it''s running in 256 colors? The artwork is insane. I''m not trying to put you down or anything, but graphics do matter: I''m not going to sit there and stare at 20 polygon models for the entire story. I have had no trouble with my own small projects getting great looking graphics, and I am no artist.

Hum I don''t think starcraft is running in 256 colors...
Maybe the each textures are limited to 256 colors, but the game itself is probably not in 256 colors..

As for your game, agupta4, you looks -really- confident..
I can''t wait to see a demo of your game

good luck

And btw, do you have any idea of when will your game/demo be ready?
