Ok. eedok, I've added in that link which wasn't loading before. And 23yrold, the sprite link has been included. It'd also be delightful if you made that Tutorial. I'd link to it immediately. :)

Nice animation, by the way.

*EDIT, I've also added a "Polygon Reduction" tutorial that was mentioned in another thread.

EDIT....oh, and I'd also like some Tutorials for Sprite and Tileset creation. If you have a URL handy, I'd love it.

Sprite creation? Surely you have this url!

That url is ALMOST correct. The right one should be: Pixelation.Swoo.Net!
I'm not back. I'm just visiting.

Oops, sorry Infinisearch. I remember now that when I first saw your link I was too busy to update. Then, it just slipped my mind.

All fixed now. That's a very nice site. I made links to the Model and Texture download pages. If people want to futher explore the resources they offer, they can navigate on the site. Thanks!

Now, I have a question for everyone. Should I include links to downloadable Sound Effects? The PRO would be that it's another highly sought-after resource that I could throw into my list. The CON is that it's not "Visual Arts". Sound effects belong in the "Music and Sound" forum, where people are more likely to look for links regarding them anyway.

No idea if any of this will be helpful, but here are a couple of approaches that suggest some possible solutions. Most .

Most of the tutorials deal with tree and vegetation textures applied to terrain models, etc. Those that include the necessary tools have a click-through non-commercial license.

You will need Painter or Paint Shop Pro to complete them, but you can download the free PSP demo and use that if you don't already have it.

2D Trees: http://www.gardenhose.com/tutorials.htm

They various versions of the 2D tree tutorials address Painter, PSP and Photopaint, including earlier versions. Rather than post all of the variants, here's the main page. Most of the tutes below are on this page as well.

3D Trees: http://www.gardenhose.com/bigoak.htm

The poly count might be too high for games using this approach, but you guys would know better than I.

Terrain foliage: http://www.gardenhose.com/coyote.htm

Same as above. Works well for oblique and overheads, but poly count may be problematic here too.

Grasses: http://www.gardenhose.com/kansas.htm

The combat image is really nice. So, I don't know if this demonstration offers much.

Conifer forests: http://www.gardenhose.com/conspik.htm

Concrete textures with Painter: http://www.gardenhose.com/concrete.mv

Sorry for the delay in updating this and my other thread. Been busy lately with family weddings, job interviews, personal projects, and a new job. (and tonight, I'm just too tired).

In short time, I will be updating with all the posted links. I definately appreciate it, and keep them coming!

OK! I just did a big update, finally. There's a mass of new tutorials AND downloads.

I'd also like to point out that a moderator has been kind enough to Sticky this thread. --THANK YOU!-- I really appreciate it, and I'm sure others will as well.

Soon I'll be updating my Software thread, and I hope it will be receiving the same love.

You're welcome. ;)

BTW, I added a new tutorial to my website on making isometric walls using Blender and the Gimp. Here. It's a rough draft, but the link will stay the same when I patch it up in the future.

EDIT: And looking closer, I can see you're way ahead of me. =D

Heh, yeah...I try to keep my eyes open for new content. You do good work on the Tutorials, I hope to see more.

Thanks again for the Sticky on this thread (and now the other one too). I think people can only benefit from their permanent visability.

EDIT, added a note to your Isometric Walls link indicating what software was used.

For now I've just thrown that link under the "Software Specific" category. I may go back later and pull out some of the individual ones and put them under Texturing. Thanks!

I also added a brief tutorial for doing tree textures.

This probably goes under software specific for the GIMP.
