Basically I''m posting this cos in previous messages there was people interested, I allways hated consoles for 2 reasons, one is that you need to buy an extremely expensive development kit and the other one is that the games have to be approved, that means censorshit instead of the anarchic freedom we have for pc games. I saw some news saying that the Xbox development kit was going to be free to help indie developers. It''s nice but still only authorized publishers can be used and the censorshit remains so consoles still suck to me. The full text is here: http://www.gamezone.com/news/11_07_00_10_01AM.htm

There''s a very good reason every Tom, Dick and Harry can''t just develop a game for a given console. The reason is that 99% of those people wouldn''t be able to even come close to completing a project they started. If a company like Microsoft were to make a committment to support every guy who claims he has a "GREAT IDEA FOR A GAME", they''e be losing money hand over fist.

Personally, I think console "censorship" as you call it is a great thing. It keeps two-bit developers from even trying to do stuff for a console. Only a dedicated, highly professional team is ever going to get a thumbs up from a console company.
Volition, Inc.
daveb,

You also need to add track record to your list of qualifications for a group of developers to get support from any console manufacturer.

How much support is really needed?? If an indie team can put together a quality game, they should be able to market it! I cant wait til the open source console comes out.
There is no spoon.
Indrema right?

I''m monitoring the whole Indrema thing myself, I like the concept and (since I''m basing my next engine on OpenGL) I don''t expect too huge a porting effort to move to their flavor of Linux.

They''ve got some new stuff on the Indrema Developers site, you might want to drop by and check it out...
This is really niave(<--spelt right?) of me, but is X-Box modem equipped? In which case an indie developer could publish. Erm perhaps if this is not the case, perhaps it should be eh.
