Lip-sync software for the deaf --> computer games?

I was watching a tv-show last night that had deaf children look at a computerized face and 'hear' what was said by reading the lip-movements. Not sure if this has been mentioned before (almost have to believe it has) but I think this type of technology would be something to look at when trying to design something similar for computer games (even though you might not want to get into such depth as making players able to read lips, I think it's always best to try to aim high). Following this stream of thought, maybe there are other technical inventions for certain fields that could be used in computer games. The designers wouldn't have to actually design the software from scrap but could adjust it to fit their needs. For technical innovations in sound I would look to software developed for the blind (who are more dependant on sound). I'm sure we can come up with others, but the general idea is clear, right? You either believe that within your society more individuals are good than evil, and that by protecting the freedom of individuals within that society you will end up with a society that is as fair as possible, or you believe that within your society more individuals are evil than good, and that by limiting the freedom of individuals within that society you will end up with a society that is as fair as possible.

I still think that it is easier, and better looking, to save a little bit of your screen for a scrolling line of text...
