I'm thinking about probably going for a Friday midnight to Sunday midnight Central time zone frame.

If I can get at least a dozen people who say they'd like to participate, then this contest will get a go. If anyone has any suggestions they'd like to make on the contest time frame, let them be known. Any other questions as well, don't hesitate to ask.

Barring any sudden 48-hour assignments, I'm in.

I'd be interested, but as with most contests I probably won't get anything done.

ooohhh, I would definitely be interested. Unfortunately I have New Student Orientation this weekend. [sad]

This sounds like a perfect opportunity to work on something that I should have been working on anyway.
ChurchSkiz

I haven't done any development in a while and this would be a good excuse. I'm in.
GreenToad

I love contests, and don't have much going on that weekend, so I'm interested.

You can use whatever libraries you wish. The key thing though is that you need to produce a release executable. Don't expect your game to run if it requires debug versions of files to be on the testers' machines. You need to link to any distributables needed by a tester to play your game before the competition starts. In the example of using XNA, you need to post a link to the appropriate XNA distributable for the version of XNA you are using.
CrimsonSun

I'm certainly interested. Will a python submission be acceptable?

I have Python installed on my computer, so I would be fine with it. For the sake of any other judges, though, you will need to post a link to whatever Python Runtimes are necessary to run your game. Again, this needs to be done before the contest begins.

A Python Windows installation is about 10.5 MB. I'd prefer to keep away from anything larger than this. Judges shouldn't have to download massive SDKs to run your software. A 10MB or less Runtime is acceptable.

Which of those specifically would a tester have to download to run your game, if any?

lua5_1_2_Win32_bin.zip or lua5_1_2_Win64_bin.zip depending on your platform. I could include the interpreter with the game (its small enough) if testers would prefer that.
