So you want to become a very good mage, oh my god there is a school for that in the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So you go to enroll and you are accepted. It is a really vague idea, but what do you think about it generally. Dark Era: Concealed Evil. The next generation of online gaming.

This is an idea which isn''t totally unfamiliar.. If you''ve ever played any MUDs or even most MMORPGs, most have what they call "guilds" which is essentially the same.

Although I''m not sure.. Im under the impression that you want a "baseless" starting character.. someone who can be anything they want and once they''ve decided, they can attend a school. This train of thought allows for stuff like multi-classes and less emphasis on number statistics (ie. not make a character with high INT because you want a mage)

I think it''s a pretty cool idea if you''re aiming to get away from numbers in general.

Newwwbie :)You don't make friends with salad!
Guilds exist already in the game, like vampire guilds, angel guilds, and other stuff. So you can be a Mage and also be a vampire (Secretly). But you also have some abilities of your own race, which in the case of my game you could choose from Four.

For example if you are a Vampire, are a Mage and are a Baalbek you would have the following basic abilities:

Vampire: Drain Blood
Mage: Magic Sphere
Baalbek: Soul devour

So you would become into a multiclass character in which the other players would recognize you in an MMORPG as a Baalbek Mage but not as a vampire, because being a vampire won''t make you a half bat.

THis any good?

School (not guilds) idea is neat. I see this more of a lecture type thing where the "professor" would demonstrate a few spells and take about how to cast them, what ingredients are needed, etc. This would have to be a reasonable length of time though because nobody is going to listen to some old mage babble on about spellcasting theory for two hours =)
Could be interesting..Doesn''t have to be just magery, could be mining, fencing, or any other skill.
Definately a unique way to level up or gain a skill point.
In the game i am designing, i had thought about three schools.

Dark Arts

Mages

Warriors

I think this would put the options very limited. But I am thinking on putting some other schools, any suggestions from the gamers out there?

I don''t know if any of you have heard of the puzzle game Jewels of the Oracle, but it''s setting was supposed to be this ancient school that once every youth of some ancient magical culture (minoan or atlantisian or something) had to pass or die. The intimation was that if you solved every puzzle you gained some special ability and could go back to the real world and show off.

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

Well, you could use it as a source of quests and gameplay.

Today, we have a Dark Alchemy practical.. everybody must make a Jewel of infinite evil and show it to me.
