Do actors that are not active take up any processor cycles in a PhysX scene?

Well I'm making a game that may have up to a million objects loaded in PhysX at a time. I'm trying to figure out if I should release the actors and back up there positions when they are no longer in use and out of range. So do actors that are not active take up any processor cycles in a PhysX scene?
