Where to begin...?

I tried this topic elsewhere, as it pertained to that subject as well, but I feel it may (I am often wrong =P) fit here as well. ~I have long been interested in Animation (I guess Flash?) and the more basic end (for now) of Game Development (again, the Flash side?) I also have a strong attraction towards being a Game Artist (Cinematic, Concept, Environmental, Special Effects, and the like). I have come upon a vast amount of free time recently and would like to spend it wisely. Thus, my question. -- Which, in all of your opinions, might be the better of the two to begin with? Which might be easier to pick up, and perhaps translate into the other?~I am severely ignorant to either field (as in my skill level), so that need not be a deciding factor. Thank you!
