Question about EECS, CS and college

I want to go to college to learn more about programming and was wondering which degree would be best for it. There is Computer Science(CS) and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science(EECS).

EECS sounds to me like a better degree as you learn to program and also learn about electricity and it sounds pretty interesting as well. Learning more electricity and programming is something i would ideally want.

As I was researching, I discovered not all colleges offer EECS, they offer CS and EE as seperate degrees but not as one like the EECS degree. What are the differences between CS and EECS and are any of them better?

From what i've seen, EE does dabble very lightly in computer science, and likewise CS dabbles very lightly in electrical engineering. There is some overlap but not that much.

My recomendation would be to decide whether you want to program (CS) or work with hardware (EE) and stick to that route as your major.

If you have interest in the one you didnt choose, you can always take a couple courses in it too (:

Or if enough of the requirements overlap, maybe you could dual major without too much extra effort.

Thats what i think anyhow...
How come then some colleges offer EECS which has both EE and CS? Do they somehow combine the two degrees into one?

Also would having the EECS degree help you more to getting a job as a game programmer?
