Brief description:
Project7 has been in development for about 5 days, but the concept has been floating around for about three months while I hammered a few things out in my head.
The genre is Top Down / Isometric Shooter, RPG Simulation Hybrid.
At the time of writing our game will be the very first Zombie themed survival game focused around the prolonged Survival element of such an event.
We have a few planned features that need to be kept close to our chests until we are further down the content creation line in order to protect our IP but a few of the planned USP of this game are :
Major focus on Moral choices and quick decision making.
Major focus on offering a teamplay experience without punishing solo styled players.
Designed to be played in bursts yet offers a high replayability factor.
Designed from the ground up with the above four key concepts in mind.
Will be able to handle couch co-op up to 4 players, LAN up to 10 and online up a limitless number.
For those wondering how the genre hybrid works :
RPG Survival elements are the result of our FastCraft system, removing the tedium of over complex design processes for crafting seen in other game whilst still providing a deeply enjoyable crafting experience.
Simulation elements provided by CycleLife system, implementing true Death in a game whilst still allowing the dead players to influence and play the game without breaking the idea of being dead.
Combat is fast and action packed with varying degrees of difficulty thanks to 3T system which is the foundation of our game and allows multiple approaches to the Survival game. This is the feature that is being held back from explanation for now as it is the key to this game working.
Just know that it is the key to the replayability aspect of the game and why every game will ALWAYS be a different strategic experience whilst building on previous experience of other gaming sessions.
Target aim:
The aim is to have a Micro payment system, allowing players to make cosmetic changes to their experience and a richer involvement into the game such as forming Survival groups. Non-Micro paying players will have FULL gameplay access to this game and will still be able to join such groups but creation and other such features will be for the Micro Payers.
Payments will based on a £1 system. Meaning no micro-payment feature will ever cost more than £1 and such a payment will be used up on a per monthly basis.
Compensation:
You will be paid in one of two ways which you can choose prior to starting :
Share based - you will recieve a percentage of all and any revenue the game produces once live but no initial pay to start with - this option once chosen, if you then switch to Contract based then want to rejoin at Share based, you will start from the base share again and have to build up for share % again.
OR
Contract based, where you will be paid a set fee for the work you do, but will not be paid anything further once work is completed and game is live.
Example : You join on the Share based level. You start at 0% and as time goes on and your contribution increases it will go up by 0.5% up to a cap of 2%. You then decide you want to be contract based.
That share % whatever it is - is lost upon you accepting your first contract based payment and will go to 0 %.
You then decide you wish to be share based again - this will now only be allowed if there are allocated shares for you.
This will be worked out by checking how many people are on the Share based system. e.g 10 people. 80% always stays with the company. Those 10 people have the potential to earn up to 2%. 10x2=20. This would mean there are no more shares available.
The above is just a brief of the payment system and is in place to reward long term dedication whilst still paying for short term contractors albeit without the revenue share of future sales.
Technology:
Starting off with using GameMaker, once everything is working and as it should be the Game will be ported in similar experiences to Phones, Xbox360. Porting to other systems may occur at a later date but will initially be aimed at PC.
Talent needed:
For now we only need the following two roles (keep in mind the share system above, so it is very unlikely the core team will grow larger than 10 members so I apologise if you do not get a spot)
Graphics
2D Artists - in particular please state if you are able to do Top Down 2D - simple geometric shapes, or if you are able to do Isometric graphics.
Community
Forum Moderators to manage and grow a community around the game during development time - I am a keen advocate of growing a community from day 1 as it helps with the development cycle to have an audience to bounce particular ideas of off.
More roles will become available as the time goes on - but for now these are the only roles we require.
Team structure:
Myself and my friend who we have worked together for the last 10 years on individual works and have a shared bond when it comes to Game Development.
My skills lie in programming, having completed a Computer Science Degree and working in PHP, MySQL, HTML for those 10 years. I am also a fairly competent Graphical modder when it comes to Photoshop jobs.
His skills are his highly skilled Writing ability, Game Design and general thought process - he has a real knack for problem solving and thinking outside the box. I likely would not even be posting this Game post if not for hit ability to work out solutions to our Game design objectives we had.
This leaves us with a whole in content creation and community relations AT the moment - as the core development process will be handled by us, as will the programming.

Previous Work by Team:
Me : Multiple programming projects throughout Degree as well as current work as current job as a Programmer.
Friend : Technical Documents as well as self written Long Stories. Currently in his final year.
Additional Info:
For the Graphics team here are TWO examples of the styles I am looking for dependant on your skill in either Isometric or Top down 2D. Take note this is REFERENCE material only and just gives idea of the Top Down system Im going for - so simple, clean yet vibrant/arcade. At times there may be up to 2000 Zombies on screen.

ANY
Completely open to any and all questions - however please note anything that relates to the key feature I mentioned above that needs to be closely kept secret for now I will only be able to talk "so" much about. Anything else related to this project is open game (pun intended).
