Hi guys!

I am a new member here and hope to have a good nosey about! I am also new to game development and currently following some online courses, but also playing about and learning through trial and error and adaptation of code =)

I also would like to get a heads up on something... I love programming etc on my Desktop but I am joining the Army shortly, now I will be based in a single location mostly, but theres the possibility of traveling when needed etc, so I would like to take a laptop with me for developing to keep on top of things! (I currently use Unity mostly, looking into trying UE4 aswell!)

I am not going to make next - gen, eye-gasming graphics or anything, maybe mobile games or some basic 3d PC adventure type games, do you think I will be ok with a general laptop? (Say up to £800 - 1000 mark?) Or would a mac be better for on the go?

I understand I will need a decent screen res for multiple reasons, the main one for me being I hate crap resolutions, but I like to fit lots on the screen anyways!

Any tips / info greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance for any help!

Graham

It really depends on how detailed your 3d models are. For android / iphone games, 3d is under 500 polys. I would recommend using pixel arts to work things out before diving in to 3d.

Welcome to Gamedev, this is a great place to hang around! cool.png
