Lightwave 6.5 (and, perhaps, Deep Paint)

Has anyone out there used either of these programs? I''m pretty good with Lightwave and have pretty much all the mapping stuff figured out with it (Atlas UV map is the shit), but the problem I''m having is that the Atlas UV mapping doesn''t seem to be worth shit without Deep Paint (which, while great in concept, does not seem to be a very well put together program and simply doesn''t do some of the things that the official tutorials say should work). I''ve tried just print screening in the Lightwave window and cutting out the UV Texture window and using that as the basis of my texture, but that leads to some seriously ugly edges around everything (it seems that they don''t exactly like up with the lines when I put the image back as a texture). Anyway, if anyone could give me some insights, I''d be greatly appreciative. Thanks!

I know what you mean, although I haven''t used Deep Paint. Have you used ZBrush? You can export your lightwave files as .obj which includes UV coordinates, then import into ZBrush and paint directly on the surface. You can''t import/export with the demo version, but it''s definately worth a try. Hope that helps...

Well, I got Zbrush and it is, in concept, probably the single coolest graphic development programs to come into existance. Now, you said that you could import/export into .obj (not in the demo, I realize), but I''m only seeing the menu option for exporting. Could ya tell me where the import one is? Thanks for all your help on both topics!

I''m not surprised you can''t find the import button, it took me a day to figure it out! You must have a specific tool from the Tool menu(called PolyMesh3D) selected, then click on the inventory menu, and voila there''s your import buttons. Try downloading a tutorial from the ZBrush site called TextureMaster. Play/Go through the five steps and realize how awesome this program can really be. Have fun...

Oh, I got Texturemaster even before I got the program ''tis truly awesome. This program so rulez all others! I''d never imagined that there could be such a seamless intergration of 2d and 3d... very nice. Thanks for clueing me in about it! Also, thanks for all the help! I''ll totally post back here if something else comes up. Hopefully, I''ll be able to return the favor someday. Thanks!
