Investment and piracy

What unambiguous evidence is there to show that piracy negatively influences returns on investment?

Do you think brain training works?

13 March 2011 - 09:54 PM

Naturally, mixed information about this is all over the net, but I do want to hear from you if brain training games like those found on Lumosity really had an impact on your cognitive abilities. Personally, I get the feeling that doing any sort of problem solving with Sudoku, crosswords and gbrainy would work with no cost involved.

What do you guys think?

How are your eyes?

02 January 2011 - 03:16 PM

Talking out of my ass here.

Is it just me, or is wearing glasses a symptom of nerdom? I have to actually search for people who do not wear glasses these days. It's almost as if we are becoming a near-sighted species due to staring contests with monitors.

How badly has your eyesight degraded over the time you spent in the Information Age? Has it degraded at all?

What is that feeling?

For whatever reason, I think certain "humble" arrangements of vegetation or roads are beautiful. By humble, I mean that when staring out the window on a long car trip, I can look at what would normally be another patch of boring trees and feel serene, while all other patches are just trees to me. The sight does not have to be scenic.

What the heck is behind these preferences? Do you feel emotionally affected by certain arrangements of objects that were not made artificially, and are NOT that special?

What I'm really curious about is if this info will be helpful from a design perspective.

Is savant self-training possible?

20 December 2010 - 06:09 AM

Is it possible to train oneself to shift to a savant-like cognitive state without artificially stimulating the brain with magnetic impulses? Is our tendency to not operate with raw information a breakable habit?
