Short Gameplay Video

The latest things implemented in Fireheart:
Particles
Spawners
Primitive Traps

All in all, these three things actually add a decent amount of gameplay in. In response to DecipherOne's question last post about the gameplay: We are going for an action/adventure kind of theme with heavy puzzle elements. Our goal it to make it where the player can brute force through every level or avoid combat completely through clever planning. The game pace is probably most similar to Zelda: A Link to the Past.

I put a video together showing the Imp character defeating a couple of varas as well as some of the early trap devices. I used a bit too much compression though and the video is kinda blurry, so I'll be making a new one and replacing the link sometime later today.

VIDEO REMOVED (sorry, switching hosts)

Also, you will need the XVid Codec to view the video. This can be found here.

Might be just me but for some reason it doesn't seem like the character walking around is really on the ground. He (it?) seems to kind of be floating just above the ground, even with the drop shadow. I dunno :-p looks cool tho

Interesting you mention that, as you are not the first person. I guess I've seen it for so long I can't really tell. I am somewhat at a loss for how to make him appear more grounded... any suggestions?

Thanks for the feedback.

I was also thinking the exact same thing regarding the floating look. Perhaps coloring the feet a slightly darker red might help as I was curious if it was only affecting the imp character or if the little dragon creatures were experiencing the same thing, but I couldn't really tell as the footage of them was rather brief. Excellent choice for the game play style. I can't wait to play it.

Coloring the feet darker is probably a really good idea. We had been contemplating visual tricks to make him seem more grounded. Upon closer inspection, all of the characters seemed to float across the ground. Hopefully we can manage to sort this out soon.
