Team name: Ten Apostles (not a registered company) Project name: JAdvancedWars Brief description: This project is an attempt to recreate the the tile based action of Nintendo's Advance Wars on GBA for PC. The project team are aiming to have a demo completed in March that lets you play multiplayer over a network. A campaign will not be included in the demo. The game is not intended to be a remake, game design has been creative, influenced by proven elements from commercial games. If you havn't played Advanced wars on the GameBoy, it is a turn based strategy where two or more players take turns to move their units. Each player must also chose a CO to accompany them for strategic advice, The CO doesn't have to be a military man/woman but a military influence should be considered. Target aim: The demo is an open source project and is under a GNU General Public License (GPL). Long term wise, we'd like to sell a full version. Compensation: If the demo spawns a lot of attention there may be a chance to sell a full game. If this is the case you would become ideal may be hired Technology: Java, its compatible with all the common image formats. Talent needed: Someone capable of putting pen to paper. We need at least four characters for a player to choose from. You are encouraged to be creative, any style is okay (anime, cartoon, etc) also you may give the character its own personality, relationships with other characters, strengths, weaknesses, etc.. be creative! Team structure: There are currently only two devoted members (both developers): Stefan - currently studying computer science in Belgium, he has already programmed the games graphics engine, he will do what it takes to develop professional code. Ben (Me) - Embarking on my third year of University studying computer science majoring in multimedia and game development. Additional Info: Codename: JadvancedWars Game design ideas: 1.Game play similar to Nintendo Advance Wars. 2.Units derived from Nintendo Advance Wars and plus some. 3.Experience system similar to Sid Meires Civilization 4. 4.Specialists can be assigned to infantry based squads influenced by Dawn of War. 5.A CO can be assigned to a unit, giving it the CO's abilities. 6.No global co powers. 7.Unit upkeep, theres no point producing a massive army if you cant maintain it.
