New team: BG Art House

The team is called: BG Art House (the BG stands for Beat Generation)

This is a product co-ownership and profit share. We intend to keep the team the same when it’s fully formed. So that the more we grow the more the team members benefit, their take remaining the same (as a percentage of net profit - as per contract.) With renegotiations based on performance open down the line. To further game products.

Experimental story-driven strategy and adventure games with a nod to the 1990’s or B-movie homage.

Our first game is called: Before the Zaga vs Nonbenzo Wars: indie video game

The first phase is to build a demo to secure the teamwork process and show what we can do – this will be a portfolio piece, shown on itch.io and we will build a patreon for a following. Then we’re aiming to finish an early access prototype for Steam.

Story Style: That Dragon Cancer meets Alan Duff meets Burroughs/Vonnegut/Nabokov/Hunter Thompson

Game Engine: Unity

Visual Style: Wolfenstein (original)

Control System Style: Syphon Filter (PS1)

Mechanics Style: Grim Fandango/My Friend Pedro/Limbo (kind of a mix, but story-driven)

View style: 3d (tile-based) pixel art, 360 degree view, with HUD

Story: “Young Fortune is a eight-year old, English-born white boy growing up in a New Zealand shearing community. He is introverted, an over-thinker, and dealing with probably undiagnosed chronic anxiety/depression. His friends he immediately makes in the small town are Rangi, Tama and Ramene. There are conflicting relationships within this group. But when his family move town he has to make new friends and he becomes less invested in the new relationships in case he has to move again. When he later gets out into the world he has to figure out where he fits. There are dark elements including nudity, sexual discovery, and elements of horror.”

Pitch: this is a casual time project requiring as much time as you can spare. It’s a portfolio piece but if we can get it finished enough, we are aiming for steam. And getting it to the point to sell would be an net profit (as per individual contract) share distributed evenly (% each) among the support crew, after the majority (%) share goes to the 4-5 leads. When we can afford to pay salaries, we will prioritise rehiring the people we’ve already worked with on future projects for this team, as long as relationships remain positive.
