Any recommendations for a game engine?

Well, it's too bad the thread took a negative turn. But, here's what I was responding to:

In Unity you can't even reuse code between projects
And you know the little API that C# is a part of, the .NET frameworks? You can't use that either
Complicated gameplay and GUI? no
it's a different story to make cell phone games and make something like a flight simulator or old school RPG. For unity that is virtually if not entirely impossible.
Those statements range from unclear and/or misleading to simply incorrect, and that's why I responded to them. It's not being defensive; it's just addressing what's been said in the thread.

I'm sure you're highly skilled and experienced, but that's not the issue here. I'm only addressing what I see as misinformation in the thread, nothing more. I'm not defending Unity or any particular piece of technology; I'm just addressing the statements that've been made. That's it. If the statements were about something else, I'd address them in the same way.

For what it's worth, I can't accept your statements about my C++ knowledge or understanding of Unity without some supporting evidence (of which I haven't seen any), but regardless, those issues are more or less tangential to the topic at hand.

If I'm not mistaken, this isn't the first time you've elicited a strong reaction in a forum thread, so I wouldn't be so quick to assume it's always because of the other guy. For my part though, I'll admit that I can be somewhat dogged when trying to make a point. I never pursue a point unless I'm certain I'm right, but sometimes it's best to let things go for the greater good, and I'm not always so good at that :)

For the record, I think you're wrong, both about Unity and about my understanding of it (among other things). But, at this point, perhaps we can just agree to disagree and leave it at that.
