I noticed my group type changed as well as I believe my title. I now am a Prime Member in a Crossbones+ group (instead of Members). What's the difference?

I'm assuming it's for the original members of the group, to contrast with people being added to the Crossbones+ group automatically for having a 1000+ reputation (as mentioned in the green announcement above the forums).

Speaking of which, I guess I haven't gotten any upvotes lately...

That was the only conclusion I could draw.

It may be the next time you upvote. I'm not sure.

Oh, well now I'm "Prime Members" too so I guess I was wrong about, you know, everything said in my post above.

Bloody hell.. that's not right. Looks like I can't cascade promotions like I hoped. So for now it's just Members -> Crossbones+ at 1000 points.

Hmm, you should be able to. That is odd.

Well this software had built-in ways to promote based on stuff like how long you've been a member or how many posts you made.. but both those metrics seem largely useless. I got a little plugin to add in promotion based on reputation but it seems a little flawed.

Perhaps just using the login event and check the reputation instead of on reputation events? If someone wants an immediate promotion, they can simply log out and back in.

There was a main message or something about it for a few days, crossbones is where you get 1000+ likes and it is something to do with power on articles or something.

Hmmmm... I see no Crossbone stuff on my posts? I see I can watch a lot of under review articles smile.png

Edit: Ahh on my next upvote hehe :)

You get access to the GDnetDeathRay++. Just kidding, that's for GDnet+ Members only.

But check out the top of the page below the navigation buttons:

The peer review is mostly just reading through the article and marking Yes (it makes sense and is helpful), or No (and giving a brief reason). It's not an academic style thing where you're suggesting revisions paragraph by paragraph, for those who are curious. You can leave detailed feedback in the comments if you want to, too.

It depends probably from person to person - F.e. I do read through whole article and review it paragraph-by-paragraph (at least into the gedit, then write some shortened version into comments, with personal opinion). Although I don't strictly insist on academic style (from the "stylistic" point of view) - informal view is also fine, as long as it delivers the information in "a good and understandable way".

So was a GD-net+ then I became a Crossbones+ and now I am a Prime Member. I am confuzzled...am I still paying for my gd-net+ now? Did I just lose access to GDnetDeathRay++? Can the next promotion be to Irrational? SO I get that Prime Member is in some way a differentiation but I am still not exactly sure what the differentiations were based on...anyone know yet?

I can't work out what the title is based on either. I tried initial crossbones group, reputation, number of posts, user activity, upvote/downvote ratio, articles submitted, join date, age, profile length, amount of red in the avatar, number of letters in the username.. but nothing seems to really fit. I believe they are being hand-picked, actually, because I see members become "prime members" every now and then, which would make sense I think.

By the way, weren't you a moderator as well? wink.png
