Chapter 1 - Addendum!

As the light died out, I was afraid I would have nothing to show for. So many ideas, and yet...

But in the end, I triumphed with a... rather limited expose of my talent!

BEHOLD!

All art is obviously placeholder, though I must admit these must be the best rocks I've ever drawn, and I'm ok with the landscape this far.
The car? Well... that was rushed in...

But HEY! I've finally managed to put in some physics in there! (though the collision is struggling!)

Shame I've lost so much time figuring out how angles are handled in Unity, and more importantly, how MonoDevelop disregards changes made to a script at random intervals!!!!

Day 0 - Woe is me, I don't have any free time.

Day 1 - I don't even have an idea! Oh wait.... BOOM! Here's a mostly working game. :)

I'm definitely giving Unity a serious look after the competition. No time now though!

To be fair I chose to stick to what I thought were Unity's strengths for such a competition.

It turns out the built-in physics 2D are a big help to hit the ground running.

I'm anticipating I'll have a lot more scripting to do to get anything interesting in there, but it helps to have something tangible to look at.

Truth is I've lost a LOT of time figuring out how bad MonoDevelop can be (I had heard things, but it turns out it's much worse than I thought!). Everything else, though, is a big help this far.

Another thing to consider: I am NOT an artist. That landscape (and especially the car) took ages to get right, out of the very few spare hours I could dedicate to this project (the rocks were surprisingly simple to do, but they're in the wrong perspective).

I need to focus on assets I really need and really fix my theme. If anything, last night taught me I'm not sure where I'm going with this (racing game? how is that even remotely related to my original plan? how does that tie up with the theme?)
