Been trying to learn WSE 3 stuff, was getting extremely fustrated at samples working yet my stuff not. Also with a certificate store on Windows 2000 - makecert certificates don't seem to be able to add to the "OtherPeople" repositry. Oh yeah and finding out that "Personal" actually means "My" and…
*finally* managed to figure out various dll and lib issues with my framework. Turns out Ogre and Open AL like to be destroyed and created like this (or CoUninitialize throws in Openal AlCloseDevice)
1. Create OpenAL stuff
2. Create Ogre app stuff
3. Destroy OpenAL stuff
4. Destroy Ogre stuff.

Not that anyone reads this, but anyway my sound director is now usable, next thing is to write the Ogre extension that uses it.

Well this is my friends site, he does some kick arse drum and bass stuff and his music will be featured in my 4E4 entry.
So Andy Matthews, aka DillusionMan, here is your journal plug: http://www.dillusion.co.uk/ - Dillusion DnB/Breaks tracks, album clips, mp3s galore!

My OpenAL problems could well have been hardware based... the Realtek ALC650 only seems to works reliably in generic software mode, rather then generic hardware.
I've got things I must do at work, my bread and butter that is nothing to do with games. Trying to get excitment back for that, and not l…

Well it's passing the unit tests I've set so far for it. Yep that sound director audio framework using openal works. A program using the dll need not include any openal or ogg include files, as it's all nice and abstract. It now buffers ogg files completely in memory or streams from them. Plus …
That last entry wasn't too inspiring was it, yeah it was a bad day, but things have got a lot better since!
This isn't my primary blog, I do plan on just keeping this one as a dev diary but I've let emotion creep in to this one and tech has def creeped in to the other one.

Well https://sourceforge.net/projects/taglib-winport/ includes my changes to make the taglib library more windows friendly.
I hope to incoporate the library in with a soundplugin for ogre, so artist data for sounds and music can be easily be got at and displayed in game. Will be useful immediately…

Well I managed to get taglib built and working against the example application in Visual Studio 2003. Though that might not sound like much, I'm not at all used to working with make files and such and in this instance completely ignored them, that and I am (but increasingly less so) rusty with C++…
A bad day
- Coding in general, work and play, meh
- Amplifier still was not getting any rear channels. Took it back in again at luchtime. Got a decent distance and realised I had forgotton the remote control (was in a bag at work)... turned around, got it, dropped it off.
- Scratched car up and dented …
I sat through that lecture in awe, and I just had to shake the guys hand. I just said something along the lines of "I just wanted to shake your hand, you've been an... inspiration"
He said "thank you".

Well Danni is looking for work properly in the states now... I'm a bit concerned about how hard it may be for me to find work... being a spouse of a citizen rather then a citizen but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it I guess. I've put feelers out in the forums to see whats up.

... well this test lead development is proving its worth. Developing new parts of the robot game and well the 8th test past first time I coded it but the 6th one failed after changes I made to get the 8th working.

Well I've got another test done and dusted, I've probably got about half a dozen more to write before I'll be ready for visualastion.

So I got a curry from Asda (owned by Walmart) and it was off and me and the Mrs are now unwell from it. Went to complain and they only wanted to refund less then half of it! Had to kick up a fuss and get the manager - didn't get 200% on Asda brand like they promise on those signs everywhere, but …

Well I was up until 1:30 AM this morning figuring out Firefox extensions, but I wrote one using another GDNet extension https://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=297674 as a template, and this page as a reference:

So I've joined the happy family of GDNet+. I have another journal elsewhere, but I expect I'll keep this one more dev.
