Hello and welcome to my journal. My aim with this journal is to keep it updated with the progress on my isometric engine called Nimrod. It's a project I've been working on since 20th of April 2007 on my spare time.

The development of Nimrod is not going as fast as it is going steady. I have no time table in which I aim to finish it; I won't release it until I'm satisfied. My main inspiration for the game/engine is older arcade and role-playing games from the 80's and 90's. D/Generation, Last Ninja and the Icewind Dale and Baldur's gate series of games to name a few. I played through each of these games and enjoyed them to such a degree that I would consider writing my own isometric game.

The perspective is going to be 2:1 diamond shaped; the graphics are mostly hand drawn. The graphics API is OpenGL and the platform is Windows XP/Vista.

Here are some current screenshots of the engine and editor in action:

That is all for now, have a nice weekend!

Cool - isometric games are my favourite! It's always great to see a new isometric journal starting up =)

Your editor looks awesome by the way - very polished, especially the icons.

Have you decided on a setting yet? Or are you mainly focused on the engine + tools right now?
