So, I talked to my buddy about that website and I know I can do it. What he wants is pretty much a center for music. He wants to have a forum for people that are looking for band members or are looking to join a band. He wants tabs, lessons, and such. Obviously we're going to do merch (like guitar straps and picks.) Part of the site will be available to paid users only (like the aforementioned forums), but we'll have tons of stuff for free. Especially the girls with guitars segment (we've got an awesome name for it too lol.)

Anyway, there's also going to be an auction section, for users that want to auction off music equipment. This will be the hard part because I'll have to make it mega-secure.

There's other stuff, but I can't focus right now, so I'll fill in the blanks later.

I'm still thinking of more stuff to add while I do up some concepts for him.

Super RPG!
Still working on filling in the blanks on this design document. That template is fucking huge. I'm holding to my 1 hour a day though, so it's getting there.

I've been thinking about the combat system. I decided to go with the free-roam like Baldur's Gate and I ran into a predicament, which would be what to do when the main character dies.

For those of you who haven't played this amazing game, when the main character dies, the game ends and you either have to start over or load your game. Personally, I find this to be retarded, because if anybody else dies you can just revive them. So, I'm pondering on this choice. I can't seem any good reason why they did what they did other than sometimes a script will activate where someone will talk directly to the main character and they can't do that if he's dead. However, that's pretty easy to avoid (just have them talk to whomever is leading the party in the main character's stead.) I'll think about it more before just jumping the gun, but I think I'm going to make the main character like any other character.

Icewind Dale was made with the BG engine I believe, and didn't have the same main character death thing. The whole party had to die before the game ended.

Re: Tablature

I'd be careful putting this up on the site. When it comes to tabs of commercial music it's not a good idea. Other sites that have hosted tablature have received cease and desists (powertab being one). Of course this doesn't apply to tabs from lessons (provided said lessons are not pinched from elsewhere without permission), public domain music (I think) and authorized tabs (i.e. get the explicit tab/song creator permission).

Indeed it did. I had forgotten about that actually; I haven't played it in so long (don't know why, it's installed on my computer lol.) So, I guess I'm going that route.

Yea, I'll make sure he's aware of that, but it's not really my problem. I'm just making the site, it's up to him what he wants to put on it. Thanks for the heads up though!
