This is a draft animation for the main character for the new game. His name is Roto and his animation is designed to stay as circular as possible while doing a walking motion, so I can represent his physical shape as a simple circle when collide testing and when sliding down slopes.

That is all.

How about making his "glasses" move up and down slightly as part of the animation? Just an idea to give him a bit more movement while still retaining the circular aspect.

I like it. Brilliant idea, creating a circular character.

Bonus points if "sliding down slopes" actually becomes "rolling down slopes"

Well, swinging around on an extendable arm is the gimmick for this game. Rolling around is a good idea, but I'm not sure it would work with the swinging physics I have in mind.

Just looking at this at work, and the animation above seems to be running stupid quick for some reason. How bizarre - I would have thought a gif would run at the same speed everywhere.

My idea would be instead of legs to just have is circular body roll around but his glasses remain steady. There's that little nub (antenna?) on his back though so probably not feasible (not to mention whether it would work with the game play) but an idea nonetheless.

Hey, I'm doing a game with some similar features. If you want to take a look at what I've done check out my journal.
