Some Progress

So I've spent some time checking out Irrlicht to find out it wasn't going to work for me. I was looking for something that was more of a 3D Game Engine but allowed C++ programming, not a render. So I found DarkGDK, which I've heard of before. So I spent some time in it and really like how it easy it is to work with. This is exactly what I was looking for to help me learn 3D Game Programming.

I put together cross hairs for the gun and placed the gun to follow the camera. All the graphics below outside of the horrid looking cross hair came with DarkGDK.

I know it's not anything great looking, but it's a start. Now I just need to invest some time making the models for the weapons and a few enemies. I'm going to make ball like droids that fly around to start with and try dual pistols or something for the player.

Well, I've been up for almost 24 hours, so I better finish off some things and hit the sack! I'm hoping after I use DarkGDK enough and get the hang of some 3D programming concepts I can move onto OpenGL easier.
