Thesis Complete!

My PhD thesis is printed, collected, signed, collated with CD-ROMs and paperwork, packaged up and posted. So the thesis is now complete, at my end anyway. Hopefully. I'll be absolutely sure when I have word back from Canberra that they got it okay and I did all the admin correctly.

This means, PhD wise, there's nothing more to do until it is examined. In a few months time I'll get back a report, which will probably have a whole bunch of corrections to make. If it goes well, the suggested corrections will be "minor", which means the examiners don't want to see it again... which effectively means I pass. If "major" corrections are needed, I'll need to resubmit... which isn't really a fail, but it means I'll be sweating for months doing serious PhD work. Not good. If they really hate it, then I'm in big trouble. I doubt it'll be that bad, but fingers crossed anway.

I should now be free to worry about new, 2009 business things, rather than finishing old 2008 things now. One less thing to worry about, but replaced with several dozen more. [wink]

Thanks!

My main concern is that I never really got anywhere. There was sooo much I wanted to get done, and I barely scratched the surface. And all my co-students were doing awesome stuff like playing with robot sub communication or AI for cars, where my stuff turned out all theoretical and based on hand-held consumer grade cameras. On top of all, the most fun I was having was writing silly little games (and teaching school kids; that bit was fun. A lot of work, but fun.)

So now you're Trapper Zoid MD. That is so retro.

Heh. Actually it's about half of the rest of my family that's the MD. I'm a black sheep for heading into software engineering.

Instead, I'm going to be Dr. Trapper Zoid, B.Sc, B.E (Hon), Dip.Ed., M.C.S., Ph.D. I'll be using all those fancy degrees to draw cartoon penguins.

BTW, I'm thinking you could go with something pretty simple for those tanks. A few rounded rectangles with accents would work. If you remind me in a few days I might mock something up. Things were a bit bedlam around here in the last few days and I've got to reoriented myself to what I need to do next.

Don't worry about the tanks. I drew up a vector version of my old tanks, only with moving treads, and they look adorable.
