Dream and Reality

How is Reality different from a dream. Reality is the state where you have total awareness. By total awareness I mean a situation where you`re keeping tracking of time, know that there is a tomorrow (with things that need to be done when it comes) and that there was an yesterday, today being the day in which you`re continuing what you were doing yesterday. This distinction doesn`t exist in a dream. In a dream you`re involved in something but it`s not 100% you who is doing it all. It`s as if it`s an exercise/simulation of the real thing.

The Reality/real thing is the environment that is exterior to our bodies. This exterior environment is causing our mind to create an interior environment which we generically call imagination. During day time both the exterior environment and interior environment exist. During the night when we`re asleep only the interior environment exists. The exterior environment and the interior environment could be seen as two simulations, the EE is a very detailed simulation based upon which the IE, a much lower in detail simulation is created inside our heads.

Moving on I think it`s important to be stated that when we sleep we don`t learn. Learning is a process of drawing conclusions based on our exposure to the reality, the exterior environment that is. Learning means that we build 'something' that makes the base upon which we build something else later on. Today we build based on what we have learned yesterday. While we sleep the learning process is decoupled, you can not build during the day upon something you have learned in a dream. Basically our brain a gigantic structure that is build in sequences, each day making a sequence. The night is a pause between two sequences.

Imagine learning as a process of building of an interior structure that is only driven by the exterior simulation. There is some action during the night while we sleep but that action has no long term effects. Each day we learn something. Today we can build upon something we`ve learned yesterday or upon something we`ve learned a week ago. I think it`s important to note that you can`t build on shaky foundations. In different words you can`t build on a lie. If you believe a lie, even if it`s a genuine belief you brain won`t establish a new connection based on it. Learning advances only upon correct interpretation of the exterior world.

I will end by saying that the dream reality, the objects that we see interacting while we dream and the day time mind object`s I was mentioning in my last two blog entries are one and the same thing.
