I'm going to start looking at books to buy on game development. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be much appreciated. (I'm an OpenGL kind of guy, btw, so I'm not too interested in Direct3D API books).

I've heard Kevin and Dave's book, "Beginning OGL Programming" was really well done. If you don't already have it, I'd invest some cash in it.

Given that just starting to buy books on the topic, it's a good assumption that you've got very little knowledge of the respective 3D API's.
If that assumption is true, why do you narrow your field to OpenGL at the onset? Unless you're running a DirectX-deficient platform, it seems odd to eliminate an API with little knowledge of it.

I have a little knowledge of it, and i've done 3D work before. I just prefer OpenGL, that is all. Just personal preference.

If you're looking for OpenGL, I'd suggest you look into Visual Basic ++ With HTML Variables. Very nice language for making variables in OpenGL.
