I was wondering if it makes sence for me to invest money in Builder 6 and if it had any real advantages over 5. Take note that I have no interset in .Net. So that does not play a factor to me. I couldn''t tell what was new in Delphi 6 or BCB 6, from 5.

Check out DevC++. It''s free.

BCB would have two advantages over DevC++/mingW/gcc. BCB has RAD (Rapid Application Devleopment) capibilities - quick UI building tools and the VCL (visual component library) framework. The VCL is Borland''s counterpart to Microsoft''s MFC.
BCB will also produce faster code in release build than gcc will.

gcc (the compiler DevC++ uses) is one of the most compliant C++ compilers available.
It''s also free.
