8.1 on 2000

I just put windows 2000 on my computer and am trying to reinstall the directx 8.1 sdk but everytime I start the installation it gives me the error: "1608=Unable to create InstallDriver instance" Is there something to fix that? Thanks.

well, i think the error is not directx related but instead its the installer.

try copying the content of the cd to you hard disk and then try installing ..

Actually I downloaded the SDK then extracted it so it is on my hard drive. I am pretty sure it is the MSI since any other program that uses a different installer runs fine. Just couldn't find any MSI updates.
