Stencil buffer & Shadow Volumes

Hey, can anyone recommend a good tutorial on initialising and using a stncil buffer in Direct3D. I want to implent Shadow volumes in a game i''m making and i''ve no idea where to begin! How do you actually initialise the stencil buffer?

The SDK has some decent examples. You can also get examples from nVidia''s developer site or in the book listed below. If you are just starting out, you might want to start with the book or the SDK examples.

Thanks, i''ve already got my eye on the real-time rendering trick book, looks like a good book. But does anyone know of any tutorials on the net? it seems usage of the stencil buffer in shadow volumes is pretty new, at least with DirextX! Can''t find any good quality on the net...
