Check it out: DirectX 8.2 When 9 comes out, will we have to download the whole SDK over again?!

Yes. DirectX 9 is an entirely different creature. (Managed interfaces, etc.)

DirectX 8.2 is a bug-fix release that is only recommended for people who are having multiplayer problems.

Well, it only fixes a few DXPlay problems....your prolly don''t need it. And it''s not the whole SDK.
