Traffic Ideas

Does anybody have some ideas on how to get alot of traffic to a site? I''ve added my site to lots of search engines and it seems like nobody ever shows up to it. I even have it in my signature here and other places. No biters, any ideas?

well for one thing the link in your signiture doesn''t work.
however you might want to try to get it on the link page of some bigger sites that pertain to the stuff you are working on, (in your site). if you think that your site is exeptional than try e-mailing those sites.

My link does work, crosswinds was down for a good bit today, makes me mad.
Well, even good sites don''t get traffic, I think my site is pretty good for my limited web knowledge.

Only problem is in both of the links you spell it "gaurdian" when the signature says "Guardian".

Some search engines will trawl your site for content. This means that (a) you need to get some content: your site is nearly empty, and (b) you can't make so many spelling mistakes, as people searching for the correct spelling won't get your site on the search engine. The typo in the URL is a big put-off right from the start.
Most hits come from links from 'respected' pages, and search engines are only part of that. In order for someone else to choose to link to you, you need to have something worth seeing. Presentation counts too. If something looks bad, people tend to spend less time viewing it.
Oh, and you have a couple of dead links (to 'Free' and 'Links') I think.

2. If possible buy a domain, so people would easily remember the URL to your site.
3. Make it good. Is it good already? Make it even better. Once you think it''s good enough go to step 3.
4. Now if u''re past step 3, go back to it again.
5. If u''re past 3 and 4, ask yourself this question: why would people go to ur site? To see your crapy demo? Or to read your crapy story?(no offense, I didn''t see the demo, in fact, I didn''t even visit ur site, I''m just guessing here). Put something that they would actually go back to, and they would recommend their friends to go to. NeHe''s site is a VERY good example.

Some general ideas. You should get a .com name. You can get it very cheap now, or free like me. You should consider changing the background color of the page. Dark blue on black could not be read easly. Joining to webrings is also a good idea.

Tiso, your site will never receive heavy traffic. That shouldn''t even be one of your goals. While you may have 1 or 2 game demos available eventually, sites like happypuppy.com & others have thousands, so your site will never compete with them. It looks like your site''s primary intent is to inform people about your company and entice team applicants. This is a very small demographic, obviously, so you can''t expect significant traffic.
Also, for demos, no matter how crappy they look, you should have screenshots
