Does anybody have any idea why OR signs get turned into slashes on this board? I mean, I know it''s the board software, but WHY is the board programmed to do that? I can''t think of any reason you''d want it to do such a thing... lntakitopi@aol.com - http://www.geocities.com/guanajam

Umm... yeah. I''m talking about the binary OR signs used in C/C++ variants. They''re vertical lines onscreen. You type them by pressing SHIFT+\ (backslash). Their key is right above ENTER and below BACKSPACE.

I just want to know *why* the forum was programmed to convert OR signs to forward slashes.

Here, I''ll type an OR sign: /
Here''s three of them: ///

See?

Cos it''s designed to incorporate HTML source, not for displaying C accurately. Do this if you want to write C code:

     //The OR sign: /

That didn''t work.
What does HTML have to do with it? Does HTML hate OR signs or something?

Oops. It didn''t work.

Why can''t we do OR signs, GD staff?

I don''t know about the OR sign specifically, but I know HTML doesn''t like some other characters.

Normal HTML doesn''t convert the OR sign to a slash, I tried it. It''s the messageboard software! Some explaining needs to be done.
