Hey, I found this paragraph in an ebook a friend gave me...: At this point, I want to take a moment and address something that I have seen as a concern for a lot of beginning programmers, especially younger ones: not having money to buy books and other things. First, there are free resources available, including your local library, and Macmillan Computer Publishing, which has hundreds of programming books online at http://www.mcp.com/personal. But second, if you really want to become a good programmer, you have to plan on making an investment in it. Use whatever (legal ;<) means you have to come up with some cash. Now, out of that I wanna know -- Is that site.. Macmillan Computer Publishing... still give you free books?? Cause I tried the site, and it''s about buying the books, not readin online or anything... Thanx for anyone who answers... PS: the ''personal'' sublink doesn''t work so you have to go to the home site first, there is not page as the one stated above... the MCP site turned into safari and you have to pay for books there http://safari.informit.com/ or http://safari.oreilly.com/

Yes, they used have books you could read online, but not anymore...
Safari is a good trade-off between your money and the books they offer...If you like the books they have there (mainly O''Reilly, which has some SERIOUS good books) then I''d suggest you sign for it...
