Hi! I am thinking of buying microsoft VC++ (for game programming), I believe there are a few differences between the std, pro and enterprice version. Is it "foolish" to buy the std version for this? I am thinking of efficienty in the compiling and so... Thanks!

I believe pro has code optimizations and an install creator (not sure about that one)
I wish there was a button on my monitor to turn up the intellegince. Theres a button called 'brightness' but it doesn't work
I have pro, but I really don''t know what makes it different from std. I think it just has extra tools or something...

If you code it, they will come...

I have pro, but I don''t think there is a difference between it and the others, well at least not much. I''m not sure about Enterprise, but PRo has got all I need.

I have the Std version, and it probably has more firepower than I''ll ever need.
I think Pro was made for PROffesional companies, and Enterprise for distribution. Std works fine and it costs a lot less.
I used to have Standard edition. Now I've got Pro. And I'm never going back to Standard AGAIN.

Professional Edition! Say it with me! Professional Edition! Professional Edition! Professional Edition! Professional Edition! Professional Edition! Professional Edition! Professional Edition!

P.S. In PRO, you can statically link the MFC libs to your code. In STD, you have to package the DLLs with the executable. Now I don't know about the rest of you, but I find that way too mundane.

Oh, one more thing, you get to make custom appwizards with PRO and above. That''s reason enough!

Thanks everybody!

After some surfing today I found the following adress:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/visualc/prodinfo/datasheet/feature.asp

Here you can clearly see the differences between the three versions. I think I''ll go for the pro-version after all.

Thanks again!
