Is my web site too dark?

This is a design I was toying with, but the darkness has me concerned. It looks good on my moniter, but someone at work said it was a little dark? Maybe the brightness of the moniter was set lower?
Also, do you like the design? I have another design in mind that I want to try once I get finished with the articles, tutorials, etc. I wanted to keep it simple and easy to browse so the visitors can worry about the content and not the browsing.

Alright, thanks. Maybe it''s just the cheap moniters we have at work. They''re real old so I''m not too surprised

LoL, hmmm. First quasar3d said, "like gothic style" and now it''s evil. (quasar3d, I know you just giving an example) It''s still just too funny. Oh well, as soon as I get the tutorials and things done maybe it''ll grow a brighter halo
