Im having the same problem.
So how do you export other formats to .x
You would think the SDK would have some type of utility, but it doesnt, and I cant find one anywhere.

Anyone know of a good import, or export for .x files, please drop a link

You can use conv3d.exe to convert .3ds files to .x files.

Its included with the DirectX SDK Extras:

get over to www.anim8or.com. It is an excellent free 3D model maker with manuaul etc. I''m using it to create any mesh I need, currently learning how to create landscapes.

Plus you can export to 3ds then use conv3ds.exe to convert to .x
