Hey folks just a quick poll, how many of you GDNers have actually finished a game so far? I''ve finished a couple little ones for ti graphic calculators, but not for the PC yet. Just curious. later, -arsenius after three days without programming, life becomes meaningless

i made a pong clone

im still learning a lot of stuff... i just started learning DX about a week ago, and i got a book on opengl.. i wanna finish a game sometime soon but i still have a lot to learn
I have some nice games, but they usually date back when I was learning to program, ie: made in DOS (well, Windows 3.11 was the hype, back then)

For the record, I have made a RPG with QBasic for my religion classes, when I was 14. 75kB of crappy code (by my today''s standards ), but it still is fun.

I have finished various assorted text-based adventure games in many languages (from BASIC - PASCAL - C++) but I am currently working on my big "Learning Experience" project. So, when that is done I will announce it to all

I made a mostly finished game. It was kinda an asteroids clone.
For a good time hit Alt-F4! Go ahead try it, all the cool people are doing it.
I sadly admit that I haven''t finished a game yet, But I am pretty sure I will finish the one I am working on now (I hope).

Shrapnel Games
In the years I was learning game programming, I wrote about 15 complete games in QBasic. They were simple things... one where you had to guide a ship through a constantly accelerating asteroid field, a few space shooters, some really basic vehicle combat games, maze games, etc. Most of them had 16 colors. Simple, but fun. I have yet to finish anything big.

Me Hardguy.
and here is my game...
Two complete games so far: a Pong clone and WarDrive (two player game). My first project was a very ambitious Pacman clone (scripting engine for cut scenes for example), well it was ambitious for a first project (You can get my games from my site, I've also got some smaller programs there too, like "Joystick Mouse", which allows you to control your mouse through your joystick/pad).

I'm reminded of the day my daughter came in, looked over my shoulder at some Perl 4 code, and said, "What is that, swearing?" - Larry Wall
