3D Matrix...

I have no idea what I would search for, so I'll just ask... This is a thing of semantics, not of real programming but: In a 2 dimension matrix we have rows and columns. In a 3 dimensional matrix we have rows, columns, and... what? Is there even a name for it?

Pages? Sheets?

I wasn't sure, so I checked. N-dimensional matrices are known as tensors. From scalars, to vectors, to matrices, to tensors. Good old wolfram.
My stuff.Shameless promotion: FreePop: The GPL god-sim.
A Tensor can have any rank. Also to notice, that a tensor of rank 2 is a matrix, but a matrix does not have to be a tensor.
But I don't know, if there is a name for a general m x n x i matrix like object.
Without a general name I'll just have to make my own name for it... Levels, Sheets, Pages, all sound good...

"Layer" would be my favorite, I think.
i have never really thought of it.

rows, columns, braces or layers or Zs.
00squeaky at your service...maybe.
